We are proud to be a nonprofit veterans organization in Somerset, Massachusetts, dedicated to honoring, supporting, and serving the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Welcome to Somerset AMVETS Post 72


We proudly serve veterans, their families, and our local community through leadership, service, camaraderie, events, and ongoing support.


We invite you to visit our Post on Friday nights starting at 5:30 PM. Our kitchen staff serves great hot dinners and sandwiches, with the most expensive dinner priced under $14. We also offer free admission to the public, except on band nights, and free karaoke from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Whether you are a veteran looking to join, a family member, or someone from the community looking to support a great organization, we welcome you to stop by and be part of Somerset AMVETS Post 72.

The Amvets Club Will Be Closed On Friday The 5th Of June. Our Bar Staff And Kitchen Staff Will Be On Vacation That Week. We Will Reopen On Friday June 12th.

Friends for Veterans Club Meeting

The "Friends for Veterans" club will meet Tuesday night at 7:00pm at the Amvets hall. Be sure to bring your ideas or potential events so we can plan accordingly. Bring a Friend.

Friends Night Karaoke & Dinner

June 12th – Friday night is “Friend’s Night”. Anyone who brings a new friend with them to Karaoke and dinner, that new person will receive a coupon for a free dinner on June 19th only. The new person (s) can be anyone who has not been to the Amvets or someone who has not been here for a long time.

Most Wanted Night & Raffle

Saturday night June 13th – 6-9 pm The Band “Most Wanted”. $ NO COVER CHARGE Doors open at 5:00pm for dinner. Menu: Sandwiches, Hamburgers & Hot Dogs. Also Saturday night June 13th – The official raffle ticket drawing for the Red Sox vs Yankee Baseball game.

Karaoke Night & New Friends Dinner

Friday night June 19th – doors open at 5:30pm for dinner followed by Karaoke from 6-10pm by John & Marlena. The free dinner coupon given out on “New Friends Night” will be accepted from “New Friends”only.

Friends of Veterans (FOV)

Friends of Veterans (FOV) meets tonight at 6:30pm at the Amvets hall. Final preparations for the 250th Independence celebration at Slade Ferry Park are underway. We still need volunteers to man the Amvets table that evening.

The 250th Independence Celebration at Slade Ferry Park from 3-9 pm

Coming in July we will feature a “Christmas in July” party with a Cookie Swap - Christmas Themed Raffle and Other “Entertainment” to be Announced soon, so stay in touch.

Karaoke Night Every Friday

Hosted by Boomerang Music by John & Marlena, karaoke starts at 6:00 PM every Friday.

Join us every Friday night at AMVETS Post 72 for a fun evening of karaoke, music, and community. Whether you’re ready to grab the mic or just want to enjoy the show, everyone is welcome to come out, relax, and have a great time.

MOST Wanted Band Live at AMVETS Post 72

Saturday, June 13 | 6:00 PM–9:00 PM | Doors open at 5:00 PM

Join AMVETS Post 72 for a night of live music with MOST Wanted Band, wanted for rockin’ too loud and bringing a darn good time. Enjoy food and drinks, a 50/50 raffle, and an evening supporting our veterans.

Members of Louis Colon AMVETS Post 72 proudly led this year's Veterans Day parade, drawing hundreds of community supporters lining the streets to honor those who served. The ceremony included a moving flag salute and a moment of silence at the town memorial.

Who is eligible to join AMVETS Post 72?

Any person who has served or is currently serving honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces is eligible — Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard.

How do I become a member?

Contact us through the form on this page or attend one of our post meetings. Bring your DD-214 or proof of service. Our membership committee will guide you through the simple application process.

When and where does Post 72 meet?

Our post holds regular monthly meetings. Please contact us directly for current meeting dates, times, and location as these may change throughout the year.

Does Post 72 help with VA benefits?

Yes! We have members trained to assist veterans with VA benefits questions, claims navigation, and connecting you with the right resources.

Can family members participate in post events?

Absolutely. Many of our social events and community programs welcome family members. Family members of veterans may also be eligible for auxiliary membership.

How can I support the post if I am not a veteran?

Community supporters can donate, attend fundraising events, volunteer at activities, or sponsor our programs. We welcome all forms of community support.
